First Christ Cares Church is a body of believers who want to make sure everyone hears the message “Christ cares.” We are committed to showing the compassion Jesus modeled to people who are hurting deeply and struggling with issues such as homelessness, addictions and spiritual hunger for the Lord.  We want to help meet their needs—physical and spiritual.

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Birthed from a home-based Bible study, First Christ Cares began in May 2010 with the vision of seeing lives changed not just in our community, but around the world. Our vision is to start churches on every continent and to have Christian schools started out of those churches so that spiritual, physical, and educational needs can be met through the body of Christ.

Pastor Don Lockhart believes the only obstacle First Christ Cares Church faces is himself. But he is committed to staying out of God’s way, walking in obedience, and leaving the results up to God. We have a dedicated and committed staff of ministers and deacons serving our congregants and the community.

In 2011, we ordained our first minister, Reverend James Daniel. Reverend Daniel has spent the past 10 years on the African continent working to spread God’s word and minister to the people of South Africa and Kenya. He has been instrumental in educating local church leaders, starting bible study groups and distributing hundreds of Bibles to new converts.

We were blessed to partner with Bouldercrest Baptist Church in 2012, share their facility and conduct joint worship services until October of 2018. At that time, we acquired the facility located at 3200 Bouldercrest Road in Ellenwood, Georgia (our permanent location).

First Christ Cares sees our primary mission of spreading God’s love and His word. Secondarily, feeding the hungry and clothing those without proper clothing. Our tertiary mission is to educate and care for the most vulnerable in our society. From these three missions, we are pursuing five initiatives:

  1. Provide education in life skills for parents, teens and children
  2. Support foster care initiatives for children
  3. Find ways to improve care for our elderly and disabled
  4. Find ways to eliminate violence among our young men
  5. Facilitate employment for the unemployed and under employed
